Screen Free Week

First published on 29 April 2011 Posted in District News
Chilton Public School students and families are participating in a weeklong event that encourages families to reduce, voluntarily and dramatically, the amount of screen time that they participate in, in order to promote richer, healthier and more connected lives, families and communities. We ask that you reassess the role SCREENS (TV, DVDs, video-games, computers, social networking sites, and texting) play in your daily lives as entertainer, baby-sitter, time filler, sales force, and background noise. SCREEN FREE WEEK is about having more fun and turning "on" your life. It's an opportunity to rediscover the wide range of free and low cost activities that make life productive, rewarding and fun.

We encourage your whole family to participate in this experiment and leave your screens off for the entire week.

Droid Rage - Team #3381

First published on 07 February 2011 Posted in CHS News & Press Releases
"We don't build robots...We build people."

Droid Rage Team #3381 is a FIRST robotics team based in Southern Manitowoc County. High school students from the area (Valders, Chilton, Reedsville, Howards Grove, Manitowoc Lutheran and Manitowoc Lincoln) meet at Valders High School to design, build and program a robot in six weeks to compete against other teams from around the globe in regional and international competitions. Additionally, the Communication and Marketing teams work throughout the season producing the website and Facebook page, press releases, open house events, the business plan, and a marketing portfolio to secure sponsorships. Each year the students must solve a new challenge that is kept secret until the first day of the robotics build season. The challenge for the season is released in early January and the teams are given until the third week of February -six weeks - to build a robot to play the game. The regional competitions are held in Milwaukee, WI March 10-12 and in Minneapolis, MN March 30-April 3. The World Championship is held April 27-30 in St. Louis, MO.

The Droid Rage - Team #3381 is hosting an open house on Sunday, February 20 from 1:00-3:00 pm at Valders High School Cafetorium. The team is hosting a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, March 20 at Valders High School Cafetorium. The public is welcome to attend both events to learn about the program and help the team.

Please go to the team's website,, to follow the team's progress and learn more about the program.
