Board of Education Meeting
Monday, November 16, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
Commons Area in the High School Building

The Chilton Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
in the Commons Area of the High School building.

Mr. Randy Lisowe called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Roll call of members:
Present: Mr. Randy Lisowe, Mr. Terry Criter, Mrs. Donna Koenigs, Mr. Dave Bailey and Mrs. Maria
Halbach.

Also Present: Mrs. Sue Kaphingst, Mrs. Samantha Woelfel, Mrs. Pam Schuster, Mrs. Lori Muench,
Mr. Matt Kiel, Mr. Shawn Rude, Mrs. Dawn Bartel and Miss Breanna Bowe.

Notices were properly posted.

Delegations – none.

There was a motion by Mr. Dave Bailey, seconded by Mr. Terry Criter to approve the following
Consent Agenda items: Approval of minutes from previous board meetings, to include committee
meetings. Approval of bills as presented and authorize payment of check #213010-#213060 and ACH
#202000001- #202100250. The November receipts were $72,527.38. The November disbursements
including payroll were $1,262,302.01.
All ayes, motion carried.

President’s Report – Mr. Randy Lisowe gave the following reminders:
-The WASB Virtual State Convention will be held in Milwaukee from January 20-22, 2021. Please let
Dawn Bartel know if you plan to attend.

-School Board Elections – The deadline for filing Notification of Non-Candidacy is December 28, 2020,
and the deadline for filing Declaration of Candidacy and Campaign Registration Statement is January 5,
2021.

*Please be aware that school offices will be closed for the holiday on December 24, 25, 31, 2020 and January
1, 2021. All school offices may be closed on December 28, 29, and 30, 2020.

Miss Breanna Bowe, Student Council Board of Education Representative, provided an update to the
Board on current student topics.

Board of Education Committee Reports:

Finance Committee - The Finance Committee met on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 5:30 p.m.

Policy Committee – No Report.

Co-Curricular Committee – No Report.

Education Committee – No Report.

Buildings and Grounds Committee – No Report.

Mrs. Sue Kaphingst gave a presentation regarding adjusting the school calendar. Administrators
shared the impact that COVID-19 is having on our staff and their ability to continue to provide our
students a high quality education amid a pandemic.

There was a motion by Mrs. Donna Koenigs, seconded by Mrs. Maria Halbach to adjust the school
calendar for non-student contact day on Wednesdays in December and January. The Board of
Education will re-evaluate at the January 18, 2021 Board of Education meeting. All ayes, motion
carried.

Mrs. Sue Kaphingst, Superintendent, updated the Board on mitigation practices.

There was a motion by Mr. Terry Criter, seconded by Mrs. Maria Halbach to convene into closed
session pursuant to State Statute 19.85(1)(a) and (f) for the purpose of conducting a student expulsion
hearing. Roll call vote: Lisowe-aye, Criter-aye, Bailey-aye, Koenigs-aye, and Halbach-aye. Motion
carried.

There was a motion by Mr. Terry Criter, seconded by Mrs. Donna Koenigs to adjourn the meeting.
All ayes, motion carried.
