MINUTES

Board of Education Meeting
Monday, April 24, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.
Community Room - High School Building

The Chilton Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, April 24, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room located in the Chilton High School building.

Mr. Randy Lisowe called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Roll call of Members:

Present: Mr. Randy Lisowe, Mr. Terry Criter, Mr. Dave Bailey, Dr. Anna Waldron and Mr. David Juckem.

Also Present: Mrs. Sue Kaphingst, Ms. Courtney Schultz, Mrs. Lori Muench, Mrs. Samantha Woelfel, Mr. Shawn Rude, Mr. Matt Kiel, Mrs. Dawn Bartel and Mr. Eddy Prescott.

Notices were properly posted.

Under reorganization of the Board, Mr. Randy Lisowe turned the meeting over to Mrs. Sue Kaphingst to accept nominations for the office of Board President. Dr. Anna Waldron nominated Mr. Terry Criter as Board President, seconded by Mr. David Juckem. Mr. Dave Bailey nominated Mr. Randy Lisowe as Board President, seconded by Mr. Terry Criter.

Upon a roll call vote for Mr. Terry Criter as Board President: Criter-Aye, Waldron-Aye, Juckem-Aye, Lisowe-Nay, and Bailey-Nay.

Upon a roll call vote for Mr. Randy Lisowe as Board President: Lisowe-Aye, Bailey-Aye, Criter-Nay, Waldron-Nay, and Juckem-Nay.

Mr. Terry Criter is Board President.

Dr. Anna Waldron nominated Mr. Randy Lisowe as Board Vice President, seconded by Mr. Dave Bailey. Upon a roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried. Mr. Randy Lisowe is Board Vice President.

Mr. Randy Lisowe nominated Mr. Dave Bailey as Board Treasurer, seconded by Mr. David Juckem. Upon a roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried. Mr. Dave Bailey is Board Treasurer.

Mr. David Juckem nominated Dr. Anna Waldron as Board Clerk, seconded by Mr. Dave Bailey. Upon a roll call vote, all ayes. Motion carried. Dr. Anna Waldron is Board Clerk.

 There was a motion by Mr. Dave Bailey, seconded by Dr. Anna Waldron to approve the following Declarations: Official Newspaper – Delta Publications, Depositories – State Bank of Chilton-Checking, Local Government Investment Pool-Savings, Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region-Scholarship Funds, and BMO Harris Bank – CESA 6 OPEB Trust – OPEB Trust Funds. All ayes, motion carried.

The Elementary School presented Spotlight on Learning.

There was a motion by Mr. Randy Lisowe, seconded by Dr. Anna Waldron to approve the following Consent Agenda items: Approval of minutes from previous board meetings to include committee meetings. Approval of bills as presented and authorize payment of check #215105 – #215155 and ACH #222300622 - #222300668. The April receipts were $467,124.82. The April disbursements including payroll were $1,071,987.87.

Recommendation for Hire – Amy Brunette, Housekeeping. All ayes, motion carried.

Recommendation for Resignation – For Information Only – Brady Callahan, Middle School Girls and Boys Basketball Coach and Stacy Woelfel, Girls Varsity Basketball Coach.

There was a motion by Mr. Dave Bailey, seconded by Mr. David Juckem to accept the following gifts: Weber Oil Gas Pump – February -$155.50 to Chilton School District. All ayes, motion carried.

President’s Report: No report.

Mr. Eddy Prescott, Student Council Board of Education Representative, provided an update to the Board on current student topics.

Board of Education Committee Reports:

Finance Committee Report – The Finance Committee met on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. and Monday, April 24, 2023 at 5:00 p.m.

Approval of Bus Contract - The Finance Committee informed the Board of Education that Kobussen Buses, Ltd. submitted a bus contract. There was a motion by Mr. Randy Lisowe, seconded by Dr. Anna Waldron to approve the bus contract submitted by Kobussen Buses, Ltd. All ayes, motion carried.

Policy Committee Report – Second Reading of Policy 7230-Gifts, Grants and Bequests took place.

Buildings and Grounds Committee Report – The Buildings and Grounds Committee met on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 7:00 a.m. and Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 7:00 a.m.

Education Committee: The next Education Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. pending availability of committee members.

Co-Curricular Committee Report – No report.

There was a motion by Mr. Dave Bailey, seconded by Mr. Randy Lisowe to approve the 2023-2024 Contracted Teachers. All ayes, motion carried.

Administrative Reports:

Mrs. Lori Muench, Director of Pupil Services, provided Pupil Services updates.

Mrs. Sue Kaphingst, Superintendent, provided District updates.

Mr. Shawn Rude, High School Principal, provided High School updates.

Ms. Courtney Schultz, Elementary School Principal, provided Elementary School updates.

Mr. Matt Kiel, Middle School Principal, provided Middle School updates.

There was a motion by Dr. Anna Waldron, seconded by Mr. Dave Bailey to adjourn the meeting. All ayes, motion carried.
