MINUTES

Board of Education Meeting
Monday, February 19, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.
Community Room - High School Building

The Chilton Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room located in the Chilton High School building.

Mr. Terry Criter called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.

Roll call of Members:

Present: Mr. Terry Criter, Mr. Randy Lisowe, Mr. Dave Bailey, Dr. Anna Waldron and Mr. David Juckem.

Also Present: Mrs. Sue Kaphingst, Mrs. Lori Muench, Mrs. Samantha Woelfel, Mrs. Becky Lemke, Mr. Shawn Rude, Mr. Matt Kiel, Mr. Brody Waldron and Mrs. Dawn Bartel.

Notices were properly posted.

Spotlight on Learning: Middle School students and staff presented Spotlight on Learning.

There was a motion by Mr. David Juckem, seconded by Mr. Dave Bailey to approve the following Consent Agenda items: Approval of minutes from previous board meetings to include committee meetings. Approval of bills as presented and authorize payment of check #215864 – #215934
and ACH #232400521 - #232400604. The February receipts were $2,690,375.90. The February disbursements including payroll were $3,555,765.94. All ayes, motion carried.

Recommendation for Hire: Trisha Propson, Elementary School Paraprofessional. All ayes, motion carried.

Recommendation for Resignation – For Information Only – No Action Required: Jamie Thompson, Volleyball Coach.

COUNTY Employee(s) - For Information Only – No Action Required: Hire: Holly Gregory Perry, Elementary School Paraprofessional.

Administrative Reports:

Mrs. Sue Kaphingst, Superintendent, gave the following update: Positive Correspondence.

Mr. Shawn Rude, High School Principal, gave the following update: Semester Update of School Events, State Testing Update – Junior ACT Incentive Program and Prep., and SmartPass-What is it and what does it do?

Mr. Matt Kiel, Middle School Principal, gave the following update: Winterfest and Academic Bowl.

Mrs. Lori Muench, Director of Pupil Services, gave the following update: Special Education.

Delegations: No one signed up to speak.

Ms. Amber Ebert, Hawkins Ash CPA’s, presented the 2022-2023 Financial Audit.

There was a motion by Mr. Randy Lisowe, seconded by Dr. Anna Waldron to accept the following gifts: Kaytee Products – Pallet of Bedding and Weber Oil - $155.34 – December 2023 Pump Donation. All ayes, motion carried.

President’s Report: Mr. Terry Criter gave the President’s report.

Mr. Brody Waldron, Student Council Board of Education Representative, provided an update to the Board on current student topics.

Board of Education Committee Reports:

Policy Committee Report – Third reading of Volume 31 No. 1 took place.

There was a motion by Mr. Dave Bailey, seconded by Mr. Randy Lisowe to dispense of the formal reading and approve the third and final reading of Volume 31 No. 1. All ayes, motion carried.

Finance Committee Report – The Finance Committee met on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.

Co-Curricular Committee Report – The Co-Curricular Committee met on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

There was a motion by Mr. Terry Criter, seconded by Mr. David Juckem to approve the Coaches Handbook. All ayes, motion carried.

Education Committee: The Education Committee met on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

Buildings and Grounds Committee Report – The next Buildings and Grounds Committee will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 7:00 a.m.

Mr. Brady Bunjovac, Police School Liaison Officer, provided a report to the Board of Education as it related to the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year.

There was a motion by Dr. Anna Waldron, seconded by Mr. Dave Bailey to convene into closed session to discuss administrative contracts. Upon a roll call vote: Criter-aye, Lisowe-aye,
Bailey-aye, Waldron-aye and Juckem-aye. All ayes, motion carried.

There was a motion by Mr. Randy Lisowe, seconded by Dr. Anna Waldron to reconvene into open session. All ayes, motion carried.

 

There was a motion by Mr. David Juckem, seconded by Mr. Dave Bailey to approve the Superintendent’s evaluation form. All ayes, motion carried.

There was a motion by Mr. Randy Lisowe, seconded by Dr. Anna Waldron to approve the Administrative Contracts. All ayes, motion carried.

There was a motion by Mr. Dave Bailey, seconded by Mr. David Juckem to adjourn the meeting. All ayes, motion carried.
